Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips, DC and
Warner- with claims that Michael DeLuca, Chairperson of Warner Bros.
Entertainment, and CEO Pamela Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’ to say no to Phillips due to

It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca and Abdy rather than Gunn and Safran – who took control of DC two
months before production began on Joker 2 in December 2022.

Gunn and Safran did attend the first director’s cut screening for the studio
but Phillips fueled rift speculation when he told a reporter: ‘With all due respect
to them, this is kind of a Warner Bros. movie.’

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also met
with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery
merged in April 2022 and was ‘open to filming in Los Angeles if the director would make the sequel at a lower price point.’

The studio wanted to film in London which would have cost around 20 per cent less.

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are asking voter to choose
between an immigration crackdown and reproductive rights

As their race for the US presidency comes down to the
wire, each major candidate has leaned heavily on a favorite theme — abortion rights for Democrat Kamala Harris and
border security for Republican Donald Trump.

In Arizona, their ideological duel has reached a white-hot peak, with both
topics the subject of fiercely debated ballot referendums.

And in this key southwestern state — where the billionaire Trump lost to President Joe
Biden in 2020 by a tiny margin of about 10,500 votes — every ballot truly will count.

In the mid-sized city of Tucson, hundreds of volunteers in orange T-shirts were going door-to-door to try to persuade
voters to back a ballot measure to inscribe abortion rights in the state constitution —
and, while they’re at it, to vote for Vice President Harris.

To Grace Ireland, a 26-year-old activist,
the abortion restrictions imposed by several Republican-controlled states amount to
“a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.”

She added, “Democrats and Kamala Harris are trying to push us forward and protect women’s health care and protect our democracy and protect all people.”

Since 2022, when the US Supreme Court ended the constitutional protection of federal abortion rights, Ireland, a registered

he conceded, “but that’s very small.”

He also worries about the flow of undocumented migrants
that have entered the country from Mexico during the Biden-Harris administration.

“People that are entering the United States illegally… should be sent back to where they came from,” he said.

“My grandparents migrated from Mexico to the United States, and they did it the right way.”

So he plans not only to vote for Trump, but to back the proposal to let local
law enforcement detain, arrest and prosecute anyone suspected of having
entered the country illegally — powers normally reserved
to the border police who work for the federal government.

“I know people that work for the Border Patrol, and they’re really upset because this current administration has really tied their hands up. They’re not really able to do anything,” Lopez said.

The major political parties see the competing referendums as offering an opportunity to mobilize more people to vote —
on ballot questions at the very heart of the two presidential campaigns.

But the referendums may not have the clear impact on the
race for the White House that activists hope.

Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona, with
the Republican holding a very narrow lead.

Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and both appear likely to pass.

So the abortion issue may not be “helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,” said Jenny Brian, a professor of bioethics at Arizona State University.

Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights and to bring Trump back to the
White House, Brian said.

Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs.

Republican issue, the Republican Party includes “a broad spectrum of views on the topic,” an issue that also raises conservatives’ concerns about “government interference,” she added.

The same dynamic applies to immigration, with the tougher
language on the Arizona ballot question finding support not
just among Trump Republicans but also “moderates and even many Democrats,”
said John Kavanagh, a Republican and an Arizona state senator.

The 74-year-old Kavanagh is unimpressed by Harris’s recent toughening on migration,
specifically her promise to maintain the partial closing
of the border Biden ordered in recent months.

The vice president, Kavanagh said, is “running away faster from her open-border policy than an illegal immigrant that runs away from the Border Patrol.”

While chatting with Good Morning Britain last week, the two stars were asked if the movie turned out

‘Tell them how you feel, Joaquin,’ Lady Gaga, 38, said to her costar as she
held out a fake microphone in front of him.

‘It’s so hard to talk about but I think we feel like we achieved
what we set out to do,’ Joaquin, 49, simply stated. 

Someone on X, formerly Twitter, posted the moment online
last week and it went viral, gaining more then 437,
000 views in a matter of days – and many users took their initial silence
as proof that they ‘didn’t like’ the film.

The internet has been flooded with negative posts about the flick ever
since it premiered, with one user branding it as a ‘bore’ and another
claiming it had ‘no plot.’

Many social media users have also slammed the movie’s
final scene, which saw main character Arthur Fleck (portrayed by
Joaquin) brutally stabbed to death by a fellow inmate.

This meant that the man that audiences had been watching over the course of the
two movies was never the Joker at all, but in fact, the infamous villain from the Batman series was
really just the random inmate who killed Arthur in the last moments of the
film.

The shocking twist left numerous viewers unsatisfied, and they
took to social media to share their frustration.

While chatting with Good Morning Britain last week, the two stars were asked if the movie turned out to
be ‘everything they expected’ 

Immediately, they both turned to look at one another and smiled. For a few seconds,

‘That ending? It’s so bad that not only it ruins Joker 2 but also
the first Joker for the audience,’ read a fourth tweet.

‘The Joker had so much potential but that f**king ending ruined everything,’ a fifth said. 

The Todd Phillips-directed musical serves as a follow-up to the 2019 box
office hit, which was simply titled Joker. 

The first film grossed over $1 billion and at the time was the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.

It received 11 Oscar nominations – two of which
it won. 

The sequel, however, has already been much less
successful. It had a lackluster $40 million debut at the
box office in its first weekend, and has a
low rating of 33 percent and 31 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

‘Undoing much of the goodwill from its predecessor, the sequel convolutes what could have been a unique character study into a bloated encore that goes out with a whimper,
‘ reads one review. 

Another critic wrote, ‘This movie is a disjointed mess and a waste of time.

Namibians returned to vote on Friday in 36 polling stations
reopened two days after a chaotic election, set to test the ruling party’s 34-year grip on power,
was marred by technical problems.

Tensions are mounting in the historically stable and peaceful southern African nation where Wednesday’s election was marked by long delays and
labelled a “sham” by the opposition.

Some people waited 12 hours in line to vote in presidential and legislative
polls, billed as the toughest yet for the South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO)
party, in power since Namibia’s 1990 independence from South
africa.

Wednesday’s queues were caused by many technical problems,
including issues with tablets used to register voters and shortages of
ballot papers.

In some cases, torches used to show up invisible
ink had run out of batteries and mobile voting teams had left areas
with voters still in the queues, it said.

Facing criticism from both voters and parties, the electoral commission extended the vote for a second time, giving Namibians until Saturday evening to vote.

In the capital Windhoek, at the only polling station picked to reopen,
about 60 people showed up on Friday, including Kluivert Muuondjo
who arrived at 4:30 am.

The 21-year-old student said he had waited in line until 11:00 pm on Wednesday
but left before being able to vote as he had exams
the next day.

“Everyone will have the chance to vote,” he said.

But because Namibians can vote at any given polling station, he
was worried “everyone will flock to one place again.”

The disarray led to angry complaints from opposition parties with some calling for
a halt in the electoral process.

Opposition parties were scheduled to meet on Friday and issue
a joint statement, according to Christine Aochamus who represents the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) party.

Youth unemployment, enduring inequalities and the emergence of a generation born after independence are challenging support towards SWAPO which has ruled since 1990.

Its candidate, vice-president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who could become
the first woman to lead the country if elected, could face
an unprecedented second round in the mineral rich country.

“To open only one place in Khomas (the region of which the capital is part of) is absurd,”
said voter Ensley Engermund, who also said he couldn’t vote on Wednesday because of long queues despite trying four different polling
stations.

“Only 1.5 millions voters are registered and we get this chaos?” asked
the 49-year-old security agent.

“It was to get people frustrated.”

As their race for the US presidency comes down to the wire, each major candidate has leaned heavily
on a favorite theme — abortion rights for Democrat Kamala Harris and border security for Republican Donald Trump.

In Arizona, their ideological duel has reached a white-hot peak, with both topics the subject of fiercely debated ballot

10,500 votes — every ballot truly will count.

In the mid-sized city of Tucson, hundreds of volunteers in orange T-shirts were going door-to-door
to try to persuade voters to back a ballot measure to inscribe abortion rights in the state constitution —
and, while they’re at it, to vote for Vice President Harris.

To Grace Ireland, a 26-year-old activist, the abortion restrictions imposed by several
Republican-controlled states amount to “a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.”

She added, “Democrats and Kamala Harris are trying to push us forward and protect women’s health care and protect our democracy and protect all people.”

Since 2022, when the US Supreme Court ended the constitutional
protection of federal abortion rights, Ireland, a

But the referendums may not have the clear impact on the race for the White House that activists hope.

Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona, with the Republican holding a very narrow lead.

Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and both appear
likely to pass.

So the abortion issue may not be “helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,” said Jenny Brian, a professor of bioethics
at Arizona State University.

Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights
and to bring Trump back to the White House, Brian said.

Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs.

Republican issue, the Republican Party includes “a broad spectrum of views on the topic,” an issue that also raises conservatives’ concerns about “government interference,” she added.

The same dynamic applies to immigration, with the tougher language on the Arizona ballot question finding support not just among Trump
Republicans but also “moderates and even many Democrats,” said
John Kavanagh, a Republican and an Arizona state
senator.

The 74-year-old Kavanagh is unimpressed by Harris’s recent toughening on migration, specifically her promise to maintain the partial closing of the

Lady Gaga is getting back to basics.

Following her panned performance in the flop movie Joker: Folie
à Deux, the New York City native, 38, is releasing a single titled
Disease, set to be released Friday.

Diesase, the first of songs from her forthcoming seventh album, was teased Tuesday on the Grammy-winning artist’s Instagram account, as she captioned the image: ‘DISEASE 10.25.’

In a teaser clip from the viewpoint of an approaching vehicle, the actress-singer,
whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, sported a black mane as she ran from it.

Gaga’s label Universal Music on Monday put out pre-saves
for the forthcoming single, with links to Spotify and Apple Music,
Variety reported.

back to her pop persona following the September release of her album Harlequin, which

the Arkham Asylum, and I would turn to one of them and we’d hear this crap and I’d
go, ‘What the f*** is this?’ And they’d go,
‘This is going to bomb, man.’ I go, ‘This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.’

‘We were talking about it at lunch, and we’d go, ‘What is the
plot? Is there a plot? I don’t know, I think he falls in love with her in the prison?’ It’s not even hate-watchable.

That’s how terrible it is.’

Despite the negative reviews a number of fans
of the sequel took to social media after its release last month
to defend the sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 motion picture.

The film debuted to a paltry $40 million at the domestic box office, good enough for the weekend’s top spot, but less than projections, and half that of its predecessor.

Amid the early returns, a number of fans took up for the movie and its cinematic depth, in breaking away from
the cookie cutter nature of sequels to introduce a musical element not present in the first film, with Lady Gaga
joining the franchise.

‘Joker 2 was amazing,’ one user said, adding that it was ‘100% as divisive as people are making it out to be.
I love that the film didn’t try to be a traditional sequel, and fully
committed to the storytelling they presented.
It never deviated to be a film full of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing aspects.’

Another user said, ‘I kinda loved Joker 2. I loved how it was structured as a meta-exploration of the first film’s fandom and the musical elements were a lot of
fun.’

want to move on this from as quickly as possible.’

The existence of an exclusive hideaway for the country’s movers and shakers where secret deals were done in private luxury first exploded into the public eye back
in 2007.

Back then, the fact that Qantas spent hundreds of thousands of dollars wining and dining the nation’s political elite in ultra-exclusive VIP lounges was relatively unknown.

It was a time before Alan Joyce’s tenure as the
CEO of Qantas had even started, when he was boss of the comparatively lowly
budget airline, Jetstar.

And unlike Anthony Albanese’s current slide in the polls leading up to an election in next year, the
prospects back in 2007 were rosy for Labor. 

The election that was looming was the ‘Kevin 07’ landslide that would
see Kevin Rudd become prime minister and John Howard lose his
own seat. 

The issue which blew open the ‘guilty secret’ of the Chairman’s
Lounge then wasn’t about a prime minister’s privileges, although John Howard and Kevin Rudd
were certainly both members during their terms as PM. 

But when broadcaster Steve Price – himself a long time Chairman’s Lounge member – revealed a politically charged remark made within the club’s hallowed walls, the cat was out
of the bag.

The political revelation – a comment by ex-rock
star turned senator Peter Garrett that Labor would change the
policies it campaigned on if it won government – did not deter
his party from romping in on election day.

In contrast, the scandal currently engulfing Anthony Albanese about his Chairman’s Lounge membership and that of
his ex-wife Carmel Tebbutt, and their son Nathan could bring down the prime minister.

Broadcaster Steve Price revealed he had been a Chairman’s Lounge member since 2002 during a row before the 2007 election won by Kevin Rudd which let the cat
out of the bag about the VIP club

The existence of the lounge was so little known back in 2007 that in defending his
disclosure of Garrett’s remark, Steve Price had to explain what the private enclave actually was.

In a first person piece he wrote: ‘The Chairman’s Lounge is a separate
frequent flyers lounge away from the crowded normal Qantas Club. 

‘As its name implies, the people given access to it are approved
by the Qantas chairman, Margaret Jackson. 

‘I have been a Chairman’s Lounge member since 2002.’

In his opinion piece, Price also revealed TV entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins
was also a member of lounge.

Wilkins had also been inside at the time and was
his only witness to the remark Price said Garrett had made.

Other prominent media figures, such as 60 Minutes reporters, actors and performers, and well-known writers and sports people are said to be among the lounge’s exclusive membership of around 6000.

Price went on to defend himself for reporting what some claimed was a confidential conversation in a private
place, but which exposed him to criticism over his own membership for allegedly promoting Qantas
on his radio show.

‘Why on earth is Qantas giving a controversial shock jock membership of
its Chairman’s Lounge, which is supposedly to enable our elite politicians and business leaders some
privacy from the hoi polloi?’ demanded Crikey reporter Stephen Mayne at
the time.

‘The Chairman’s Lounge is meant to be all about discretion and confidentiality,’ he said, accusing Price of breaking ‘a confidence’.

The following year, before he was succeeded as Qantas CEO by
Alan Joyce, Geoff Dixon was the sole gatekeeper of entry into the club’s hushed confines.

Qantas Chairman’s Lounge membership was ‘so exclusive that you have to be personally invited by
the airline’s chieftain’, Nine newspapers reported in 2008.

‘A marvellous benefit of lounge membership is that the
mega rich and powerful avoid having to mingle with the riffraff who will be travelling cattle class.

‘Having said that, members of the ultra-exclusive club
have included Pauline Hanson.

‘Another lounge member is Brad Cooper, who is currently enjoying a prolonged exposure
to cattle-class in Kirkconnell Correctional Centre.’ (Cooper was the former
HIH insurance executive jailed for eight years on fraud and bribery offences).

Membership of the elite lounge is confined to about 6000 Australians including politicians from both sides, senior public servants, TV stars and actors

The report noted that politicians declaring membership of
the lounge ‘which most of their spouses got too’ in their pecuniary
interests that year included Liberal MPs of the
day, Philip Ruddock, Bob Baldwin and Andrew Southcott.

Labor MPs with lounge privileges included Tanya Plibersek, Bob McMullan, and Sharon Grierson, and Martin Ferguson declared a
bottle of Grange hermitage as a gift from Qantas, as did Liberal,
Christopher Pyne.

Asked if all MPs got the captain’s pick from Geoff Dixon, the airline’s spokesperson  told Nine:
‘We like to retain a bit of mystery. Membership is by invitation only and it is
reviewed periodically.’

Fast forward to today, and nearly every single federal politician in the country has
accepted free membership of the controversial, invitation-only lounge with one even describing it as an ‘entitlement’. 

Qantas and the Albanese government recently denied the
‘very, very high-end perk’ gives the airline a disproportionate level of influence over the country’s politicians.

They were commenting ahead of the launch of the new book The Chairman’s Lounge by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston, which has stirred up the controversy. 

A Daily Mail Australia audit of the members’ interest registers – in both Federal Parliament’s House of Representatives and the
Senate – revealed almost 93 per cent of the nation’s leaders have
been ‘gifted’ membership to the lavish, all-inclusive lounge.

Mr Albanese has defended himself by saying he declared all his benefits in pecuniary interest statements. 

At a press conference this week, he repeated that all of his upgrades ‘have been declared as appropriate.
What’s appropriate is transparency.’  

Apart from the PM, members include every one of
his 22-person Cabinet, his seven-person Outer Ministry and
all 12 assistant ministers.

On the Coalition side of parliament, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton,
deputy leader David Littleproud and former deputy Barnaby Joyce are
also among the swathes of politicians who have disclosed they
have taken up free membership to the contentious club.

Bill Shorten is a member, Tanya Plibersek is still a member and so is
Teal MP, Zali Steggall.

Last year it was reported that Australian Competition and Consumer Commission chairwoman Gina
Cass-Gottlieb and Australian Securities and Investments Commission chairman Joe Longo and some
of their deputies are members of the Chairman’s Lounge despite regulating
the airline. 

Senior public servants in the club included Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet secretary Glyn Davis, deputy secretaries Nadine Williams, Liz Hefren-Webb, Rachel
Bacon and ambassador to Beijing, Scott Dewar.

Other Qantas freebies bestowed on members include numerous business class flight upgrades,
model Qantas aircrafts, frequent flyer points, and tickets to sporting and entertainment events. 

Touted as ‘the most exclusive club in the country’, membership to the Chairman’s
Lounge is still veiled in secrecy.

The select few to take a principled stand on the issue include
South Australian senator Barbara Pocock and former Wallabies star turned
ACT senator David Pocock, along with MPs Stephen Bates,
Queensland Green Elizabeth Watson-Brown, and Monique Ryan, a Teal from Victoria.

Geoffrey Watson SC, a former counsel assisting the Independent Commission Against Corruption and
a director of the Centre for Public Integrity, has
implored all politicians and policymakers to
follow suit.

‘There are certain positions in life where you cannot take Chairman’s Club membership,’ he said.

‘You’re taking public money for the job and you are supposed to represent
the public. Why not sit with them while you’re waiting for a plane?’

megarich customers already securing a spot on the waiting list.

Pricing details of billionaire John Caudwell’s spectacular 1 Mayfair development have now been revealed and only those with the deepest pockets can hope to afford one of the lavish pads.

The cheapest apartment on offer is expected to be
an eye-watering £35million – around 70 times the average cost of a house in the capital.

Due to complete in Spring 2026 the scheme will easily surpass London’s previous
record breaker, the £1.3billion One Hyde Park development in Knightsbridge.

Caudwell told The Standard that there are already more than 600 prospective buyers on a waiting list of billionaires and centi-millionaires who have
expressed an interest in making a purchase at the scheme.

There will be just 24 ‘principal residences’ in the property including lateral apartments, penthouses and townhouses with up to five bedrooms,
and five more smaller ‘pieds-à-terre’ apartments.

The size of the homes has not yet been disclosed but the developers say even the most modest property
will start with a guide price exceeded by only a handful of mansions in London’s richest
neighbourhoods. 

The average price of all 29 units – which cover 300,000

The development’s basement is being dug down to 90ft below ground level to make room for a health spa

The designs were led by New York based architect Robert Stern and practice RAMSA,
with contractors, Mace, the construction managers and PJ Carey responsible for the creation of the basement substructure and superstructure.

Caudwell – who founded the mobile phones retailers Phones 4u – attended
the topping out of 1 Mayfair alongside senior members of
the construction team.

The ceremony was marked by the final steel rafter, one of 79 at roof
level, being put into place on the top of the nine-storey main apartment building.

No expense has been spared on the building’s interior
and it will feature a ceiling with hand-painted frescos based on Michelangelo’s Map of the
Heavens in the Vatican, a reception room with a double height ceiling and 18ft high French windows overlooking the garden.

There will also be a Palace of Versailles Hall of Mirrors-style crystal callery, created from over 1,264 hand-set
pieces of cut glass, a library and a garden gallery, with seating areas opening directly onto the central courtyard garden.
