ロジカルシンキングとは日本語では論理的思考という。
例えば、人を説得する際には「論理」が通っていなければならない。
「論文」は論理文書のことで、やはり人に分からせる、納得させる文書のことである。
ロジック（論理）は、人に「Yesと言わせたい」、「自分の気持ちを分かってもらいたい」「何かして欲しい」などの場合に必要不可欠である。
「傘を持って行きなさい！濡れると嫌でしょう。」もロジックである。理由を付けることによって聞き手は言うことに従うだろう。
実はロジカルシンキングは、子供でも使っていることに気づく。
「お母さん、あのおもちゃ買ってよ。だって〇〇君も持っているのに…」といったように人を説得するためには、必ず“理由”をつけて話すだろう。
このようにロジカルシンキングでは、Why（何故）とSo What（だからどうしたいか）が必要である。
「何故」が分からない話は聞きづらい。
セミナーも同じである。本当に分かっている講師（分かりやすいセミナー）は規制要件が「何故」発出されているのか、「何故」こういう要求になっているのか、などをまず説明するだろう。
ところが多くはWhat（何を）ばかりを説明していることが多い。それでは資料を読み上げているのとほとんど変わらない。
筆者がコンサルテーションを実施する企業のSOPなどで、「なぜこのようなプロセスになっているのか？」と尋ねると、「なぜかは分からないが、うちの会社では昔からそのようにやっているため。」と回答が返ってくることが多々ある。
つまり、Whyが分かっていないのである。Whatのみが継承されている。これでは業務の本質が全く分からないばかりか、規制要件の要求事項に適合しているのかどうかも分からないではないか。
巷では当局の査察の指摘事例が多く紹介されているが、やはり「何故」指摘となったかを理解していなければ改善することは適わないだろう。
またWhy、Whatの説明がなく、How（どうやって）ばかりを説明するセミナー（教育訓練）も少なからずある。
Howが一番具体的で分かった気になってしまう。しかしながら本質を理解しない場合、実行しようとした場合、迷走してしまうことになりかねない。
